(Lanka-e-News 20.2009. 7.00PM) Colombo Magistrate Ayesha Abdeen , remanded three officers of ‘ADIC’ Organization ( a non Governmental Organization) until next Tuesday. These officers were taken into custody by the CID in connection with the publication of obscene photographs allegedly taken during the Hikkaduwa beach Carnival conducted under the patronage of the Govt.
The tourist Board officials have lodged a complaint with the CID and the TID in regard to these obscene pictures. The complaint states that these pictures were distributed locally and abroad with a view to tarnish SL’s image. A Sri Lankan national newspaper had published an article exposing the Hikka beach Carnival nude scenes .
Apparently , these three officers who were arrested have engaged in these acts with the authority of the higher ups of the Organization and have used the superior technology to capture these obscene pictures. A Police officer related that this is an organized action and has been going on for a long time, and whether any political link is there is being investigated.
In the course of investigations, it has come to light that these pictures are of a 2006 Thailand beach Festival celebrations which have been doctored to look like nude Sri Lankans are with the foreigners in the SL beaches according to the Police officer.
